30 Days of Coffee: Day 26 - Sightglass Coffee, once again
Early on in my 30 days series, I featured a few posts from a wonderful little coffee roastery in San Francisco, Sightglass. They have some fantastic coffees and an awesome new coffeeshop. I really found something special there. Good people, tasty coffee, great style.
As I’ve been nearing the end of my series, I wanted a chance to taste a little more of their coffee. Today, I’m happy to be trying another of their Costa Rican roasts, the Helsar de Zarcero, Llano Bonito de Naranjo. Previously, I’ve tasted their Costa Rica Finca Genesis and Costa Rica Helsar de Zarcero, Manuel “Macho” Arce roasts. You might say I’ve toured Costa Rican coffee with Sightglass! Also, I’m currently working through a bag of Four Barrel Coffee’s San Luis de Grecia El Venado, so hopefully my palate is getting well-rounded in terms of this regions offerings.
I really dig this cup, the Naranjo. It’s got a tart, fruity beginning to it, the kind that makes the sides of your mouth pucker a little bit. Great body and mouth to it, very smooth, similar to the El Venado I had the last few mornings. One thing I notice is a soft smokey aftertaste, a little tobacco-flavored, which is also similar to the other Costa Rican I’ve had recently.
Once again, I’m very impressed with the complexity of this coffee from Sightglass. They seem to know what their doing and I’m very excited to see their new coffeeshop take off and their business grow. If you’re down in the San Francisco area, you have to go check out their space, enjoy a cup, and hang out a bit.
