Retreat Follow-up

As promised, some thoughts on last weekend’s Fall Retreat:
I’m not sure whether it was the crispness of the Fall air, the mist of early morning fog pouring in off of the bay, or the damp grass across the field at the camp, but Cornet Bay was visually stunning this last weekend. That, combined with the [...]

RETREAT

We’re heading out this afternoon for the INN’s Fall Retreat. This will be my first all-student retreat as a staff member and I’m very excited. It’s been a lot of work leading up to this weekend, lots of planning and brainstorming for ways to have a great event and connect with students. We’ll be staying [...]

Reflections on the first INN

Last night I stumbled through the door at about 12:15 am. Sweaty, hot, and tired I made my way to bed, found the welcoming sheets and finally laid down. It was a long day. We had the first INN of the year last night.
First Presbyterian Church (FPC) was packed with hundreds of excited students. [...]

What’s Going On?

Well, it’s been a crazy busy week and I haven’t really been able to spend much time reflecting on all that’s going on. Our first Tuesday night gathering is next week, so the INN is going at full-speed. I’m heading out tomorrow for our leadership (SHOP) retreat, meeting with student leaders and getting set for [...]

Jesse in Austria

As this month has been filled with posts from Sean in Africa and a second blog for my parent’s trip to Alaska, I thought it might be fun to also include a little bit from my friend Jesse, who is currently biking across Western Europe. Here’s a note from a few days back, sounds like [...]

The Cost of Individualism

So, this afternoon, I got the urge to do some writing. The following is an essay, largely unedited, that I put together on the topic of individualism. I’ll refrain from my typical apologies for my lack of understanding, but you get the gist. Enjoy.
PS: It’s kinda long.

The End of an Era

Today is September 1, 2006. This date marks the end of an era for a few of us, as it is the first day when none of the original or subsequent renters of 611 N. Garden St. Apt A are rightful residents of that property. The house, left in shambles from moving, now is only [...]

An Edmonds Kind of Day

We’re down in Edmonds for a couple of nights right now, on a small anniversary vacation. Stacy is at a friend’s right now, so I took a short walk downtown Edmonds, to run an errand, and do a little reading. I am the kind of person who always loves coming home, just to see what [...]

Pan Handling in Bellingham

BTV10 is the local info station around here, running everything from how to use the new roundabout up by Whatcom Community College correctly to city council meetings. Mostly, it’s not very interesting stuff. But tonight they caught my eye with a brief story on the pan-handling issues in the downtown area.

I think I hate Myspace

So, I understand that it’s "all the rage" to have a Myspace page. I actually think this blog is cooler, but man, everybody’s got a Myspace page. So, I’m trying to get mine set up right now. It is pissing me off!!!
The design is cramped, jumbled, and screams of over-stimulation. The Edit profile stuff is [...]
