Water Filters for Guatemala
As many of you know, I’ll be heading off to Guatemala with a mission team of 22 students from the INN university ministries, the college ministry I work with. We are very excited for the work we’ll be doing there on behalf of CAM International, working on building projects and Vacation Bible School for the people of Huehuetenango, Guatemala.
I’m putting this note out there as a special request for help from any of my readers, followers, family, and friends. The organization we’re going with to Guatemala, CAM International, and their local director, Mike Glick, are in need of water filters. Please read below his request that was sent out to their supporters and consider helping out. We will be taking the filters down ourselves in less than 3 weeks.
If you would like to support, please read below. Your orders can be shipped to me, Seth Thomas, at the address below. Thanks for your help, prayers and support!

Special message from Mike Glick and CAM International:
Greetings to all!
Most all of you know of the wonderful ministry we have been able to be a part of through the provision of water filters. The idea is to provide these simple water purification systems to families that many times cannot afford to purchase filtered water. Their only option is to boil water, and we find many times they just can’t do that efficiently in quantities needed for cooking and drinking. This leads to them, and their children, drinking contaminated water. I was reading a book the other day that gave some statistics on world hunger and other issues. The statistics are that over 1.2 billion people in the world live without access to clean drinking water. As many as 5 million people die every year of water related illnesses. A child dies every 15 seconds of a waterborne disease.
We CAN do something about this. We have the resources, technology to do something. But, for the most part it is “over there”.
I just gave away the last of the water filters we have received to be given to a small community named San Juan. There are 10 families there without access to clean drinking water. Now, they will have the capability to have clean, safe drinking water in their homes.
There is still a huge need here for safe drinking water.
If you feel led to help with providing a water filter, or several, we have a group coming in March that would be able to bring them to us. But, you would need to act now, as they will be coming March 20, and it would take a couple weeks probably to receive the filters then make arrangements to get them to the group. The group will be leaving from Bellingham, WA.
The manufacturer of the water filters has given us a code to use when ordering so that anyone using the code will receive a 30% discount! After the discount the cost of a filter is about $44.
These filters can be cleaned and, with regular cleaning, will last more or less forever! They are not fragile and are small to pack etc. They are ideal for our use here! They use a 5 gallon bucket, which we can get here, so only the filter kit is needed.
If you would like to send some, we use the filter MODEL SP180.

Time is short, so if you would like to help, please order the filters soon. Then you can contact me to find out how to get them to the group that is coming. I will see about the possibility of having them shipped directly to the group.
