The Other Preoccupation
So, another reason there haven’t been posts in a while is that I’ve been spending way too much time messing with my new computer. That’s right folks, out with the old. You can check out pictures of the new box (as well as my old monitor, for memory’s sake) here.
I built it myself from scratch. I bought all of the components off of newegg.com, including the motherboard, processor, hard drive, etc. It was a pretty cool experience, putting it all together, making everything work right. I know it sounds nerdy, but it really is pretty fascinating to understand how everything is put together in there. (I’m comfortable enough to post about this, knowing that you will rib me with comments about being "techie" and a nerd. So be it.)
Specs:
- 250 GB hard drive
- 16X DVD Burner
- 52X CD-RW drive
- Athlon 64 Processor, running at 2 Ghz
- 19" Flat panel monitor
- and a decent video card
I’m very happy with it and I actually think I saved money compared to if I had purchased it at the store. Also, having built it, I didn’t have to clean off all the crap that HP or Compaq or whoever installs on your computer when you buy it, so that means more space for me.
