What’s Going On?

Well, it’s been a crazy busy week and I haven’t really been able to spend much time reflecting on all that’s going on. Our first Tuesday night gathering is next week, so the INN is going at full-speed. I’m heading out tomorrow for our leadership (SHOP) retreat, meeting with student leaders and getting set for the upcoming year.

In all the hustle of the last couple of weeks, I am starting to see how everything works behind the scenes in this ministry. And, as students begin to show up again, I begin to remember to amazing community this is and why I’ve been so excited to be a part of this. I know the next month is especially going to be hard, with a crazy schedule, long hours, and plenty of moments where I’m not quite sure I know what I’m doing. But to see the way that God uses the INN as a community to serve and connect the students of Western is incredible and makes everything worth it. I think about the new freshmen who are moving into their dorms today, with their fears and excitement all wrapped into a feeling of general uncertainty. It’s exciting to think that God has already set in place communities of people, at the INN and elsewhere in other churches, living situations, and what not, to provide for, lift up, and strengthen these students into adults who love him and are choosing to be a part of what he’s doing in this area.

Continued prayers are always appreciated: for this weekend, that students are able to connect with each other and the community as a whole; for Tuesday night, our first meeting, that people feel welcome, accepted, and find a place where they can ask questions and meet God. Please pray for the staff and interns, as our schedules will be picking up with the start of school. My hope is that while we’re busy, God will provide the opportunities for us to grow together and be able to engage in some great discussions and relationship building with students along the way.

I think we’re going to have a fun year together:
